Word Magnets 2.0

I’ve created a new version of the Word Magnet resource.

The new resource is now available for download and has lots of new features: save and load activities, more customisation features, upload images and so on.

The resource has its own website which can be accessed HERE.

Unlike all of the other resources on this site, this resource is being made available for institutions to purchase with a site license. This means that the resource can be installed on an unlimited number of the institution’s computers on one campus and will hopefully make the resource more accessible to a wider range of teachers. Money raised will ensure that the resources on this site can remain both free of adverts and free to use. It will also enable me to spend more time creating new resources for the site.

Thank you for your support – if you have any questions, please write to me using the contact form on this site or the contact form on the new Word Magnets 2.0 website, David.

is word magnets 1 going to come back as a free resource?

I’m not sure what you mean Andrew – since creating ‘Word Magnets’, it has always been available as a free online resource.

If you are having trouble accessing it then let me know and I will try to help,

David

I like the idea of word magnets and was told it was a free resource. If this is now not the case how much would a site licence for a primary school cost?

Hello Sarah,

Thanks for your comments. The original ‘Word Magnets’ is a free resource which is available on this site.

However, there is also a new and improved version of the resource – Word Magnets 2.0 – and more details can be found at the following link: http://www.xmleducation.co.uk

Hope this helps, David

Tried to download program but website only allows for a site licence which you have to pay for. How do I get to the free version?

Hello Maria,

The free version of Word Magnets – as well as 30 or so other free IWB resources – is available in the ‘Resources’ section of this site.

Word Magnets 2.0 is available for download with the purchase of a site license and has lots of extra features (save, load, add image backgrounds, more colour options and so on).

Hope this helps, David

David – it would be nice to make a version available for individual teachers at low cost. I am in California – districts are broke – but teachers like mystelf would pay ususal shareware price for their classroom, Another idea for 2.0 – instead of words for tiles, can pictures be used?

Hello Louis,

Thank you for your comments. You make a fair point about making the software available for individual teachers at a low cost and it is a point that many people have asked me about. My current thinking is that, with a site license, I am able to customise the software for particular schools and also respond personally – and quickly – to questions and offer help/advice. So, whilst I may not make as many sales, I am able to offer excellent customer service.

I hope that the cost of the site license is fair – it is a ‘one off’ payment and allows the school to use the software on an unlimited number of computers on their site.

I hope that this answers your question – please feel free to respond or to contact me using the form on this site if you have any further questions or comments,

David
