Poetry Magazines

A collection of e-magazines which contain a selection of different illustrated poems.

This may be useful as a teaching aid for literature or perhaps as a homework activity, with pupils provided with the link and asked to explain which poem they enjoyed the most.

I have also tried to illustrate the poems in a way which will hopefully provide a starting point for any discussion.

As ever, feedback would be appreciated. It would be possible to add greater interactivity to any future e-magazines if people feel this could be of use. It could also be a way of displaying pupils’ work – all ideas and comments appreciated!

I am a first grade teacher and we have interactive whiteboards that would work great with this poetry triptico! Some kid friendly poetry would be preferred for ages between 5-11 years old. We read a lot of kid poetry and poetry books all the time to teach the basics of poetry and rhyming words! It would teach them technology, writing and art skills. Also, something where the kids could write their own poems and even create their own computer paintings/pictures to go with their poems or other poems posted here would be great too!

Hello Jenny – thanks for your comments…

I think that sounds like a great idea… however, as a secondary school teacher, any help or advice you could give me about poetry for younger students would be appreciated.

The IWB poetry book could also include little activities to go with each of the poems.

Thanks again for writing, David

David,

Would it be possible to have a blank magazine that we could then add students poems to which could then be made into the classes’ online magazine (would need the ability to save it). A great way to publish and present children’s work.

regards

Shae

Hello Shae,

Thanks for your comments. I like your suggestion and it is something I will try to make time to work on. I also thought that, as this site is visited by teachers from all around the world, it could be good if people submitted poetry for a magazine. It could perhaps lead to the creation of an interesting and varied resource?

Thanks again for commenting, David
