I would love to see some dice with question starters on them…
For example the first die would have: Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How
on it while the second die would have: Is, Are, Was, Were, Did, and Does
I have my students create and answer their own reading comprehension questions, and then plug them into game templates on power point. I could make the dice using markers and dice, but this would be so much more fun! (And easier to keep track of too!)
Thanks for the feedback Holly – new resource added:
Question Dice
Hope it helps,
David
Oh, I have tons of ideas. Can you make a truly random name selector, like this one: [link]? The problem with this tool is that it actually repeats names only 4 or 5 rolls into the sequence.
Hello Allison,
Thanks for your comments – I will see what I can do. Are you looking for something that will randomly run through a list of names with no repetition? In other words, once a name as been selected, you would like it to be removed from the list?
In the meantime, this spinner can be used to select names and is completely random.
Hope this helps, David
This is so cool!
I’d love design a game with dice, for example, move forward/backward * steps, do this, do that, to use it in language class.
Thanks for your comments Yun – that sounds like a great idea.
I have made IWB ‘board games’ in the past and this is perhaps an idea I can revisit and add to the site.
Thanks for writing – I am pleased that you are finding the site to be useful, David.
I would love to embed these on my class blog. Is there anyway that is possible.
Hello Travis,
Thank you for your comment. I hope you will understand that I spend a lot of time creating these resources and I want to encourage teachers to visit and engage with the Triptico site rather than people taking my resources and embedding them in other sites.
An alternative which would hopefully be acceptable for everybody would be for you to add a link to my home page from your blog – that way people will see all of the free resources available on this site.
Hope that helps, David
I just found the site. What awesome possibilities! I like the dice. It would be easier for me if the dice landed and we could read the words on the two dice. Many of my students will be unable to track it if they stay in motion.
If we customize the spinners is there away to save the changes to use again, without reentering the information?
I can’t wait to share this site.
Thanks Ruth – I am pleased that you have found the site and that you feel it will be useful.
The dice should land – although they are a bit ‘erratic’ at times. The spinners are a bit more stable and, where quite a bit of information is required, I have added a save function. (For example, Spinner Quiz.)
I hope you enjoy using the resources – please share any feedback/comments that you have,
David
a jeopardy board to add your own questions would be great
Hello Ruwani,
I’m very busy at the moment but will see if I can find time to add a ‘jeopardy’ style resource to the site,
David
David!! You are so awesome!! I’m very excited to use and share the question dice. I’ll be sharing this resource with all my INTERACT teachers. : ) You’re the best!!
I like to randomly call on students to answer questions. I have a tendency to call on the same students several times and leave others out. I would like to see a design that randomly chooses a student, while making sure that each student is called on a specific number of times (assigned by the teacher).
Thanks for commenting Ronda…
There are already a few resources on the site which may help. For example, the Name Selector and perhaps even this Spinner.
Hope this helps, David.
I just found your site and I love it! Can’t wait to try it out in the classroom. I have been searching all over the web for an easy to use graphing program for Daily Data. I want to be able to easily program a graph and then have the students click on arrows to creat an instant bar graph on my interactive whiteboard. I would like to make a different graph for each day throughout the year and be able to print the results.
Hello Kelley,
I am really pleased that you like the site and I hope that the resources will be helpful in your classroom.
In answer to your request, I have uploaded a resource I made a few years ago… it is not perfect and could certainly be improved but, in the short term, it may be helpful in collecting daily data from your students. There is no direct print function on the resource, but you could perhaps use ‘Print Screen’ to copy the image and then paste it into PowerPoint or Word etc.
I will try to come up with something better soon – I am really busy at the moment but will try to find time to work on some new resources for the site soon.
Thanks again for posting your comments – please feel free to post again and let me know what you think of the various resources as you use them in your lessons,
David
LINK TO CLASS VOTE RESOURCE
David, the Class Vote resource is awesome! The only thing that would make it better would be if we could input numbers on the left side and be able to hide the percentage above each answer choice. Third graders need to learn how to read graphs. I would love to be able to show them the percentage after asking them some questions about the graph. The teacher needs to be able to determine the numbers (whether to count by ones, two’s, fives, etc.) and the range. Most of the resources I’ve found have a predetermined set number which limit their usefulness.
A tally chart that turns into a bar graph, pie chart, line graph…would another really cool resource.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Kelley
Oh, one more thing that would make the Class Vote resource better…The answer choice lines need to be longer. I tried to type in the name of a book and there wasn’t enough room.
Thanks!
Thanks Kelley – I am pleased that you like the resource…
I agree that it could be improved and I will try to set some time aside to do this.
Your ideas for a ‘graph resource’ are very good and I think this should be a separate resource in its own right.
Thanks as ever for your comments and feedback – much appreciated, David.
I am a world language teacher and it would be great to have dice that you could add your own words to. That way it could be used with question words, verb conjugations, etc. I love this site and have shared it with colleagues!!
Hello Sonya,
Thank you for taking the time to comment and for sharing the site with others.
Whilst it is not possible to edit the labels on the dice, there are a few ’spinners’ on the site which could be customised as you suggest.
For example: Double Spinner
Hope this helps,
David
